CHAN 2016: DR Congo are through to final

The Leopards of DR Congo are through to the final of CHAN 2016
– The Leopards won 5 – 4 on penalties after the game ended 1 – 1 after extra-time
– Mali will play Cote d’Ivoire in the second semi final
The Leopards of DR Congo are through to the final at the ongoing Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Rwanda as they defeated Guinea 5 – 4 through penalties in a very excruciating encounter.

The match had ended 0 – 0 in full regulation time before proceeding to extra time.
Jonathan Bolingi’s header in the 102nd minute had put DR Congo ahead before Sankhon, whose goal sent the Super Eagles of Nigeria packing out of Rwanda struck again just seconds to the end of the match to to take the game to penalty shootout as it scoreline remained 1 – 1 after 120 minutes.
Both teams lost two penalties each as the penalty shootout extended into sudden death.
Youla of Guinea later lost his spot-kick which gifted the Leopards a place at the final as the match ended 5 – 4 on penalties.
Mali square-up against the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in the second semi final tomorrow.
